Idaho Property acquired by tax deed

Idaho sells unsold tax sale inventory over the counter, known there as Property acquired by tax deed, with no auction. Tax Sale Atlas holds this for all 44 Idaho counties, read from Idaho Code title 63, chapter 10 and checked Sep 7, 2026.

Unsold liens and parcels do not disappear. In Idaho the name for that inventory is Property acquired by tax deed. Here is who holds it, how to buy without bidding, and what the statute allows.

Property acquired by tax deed: how it works

Re-offer of tax-deeded property that failed to sell at auction

Idaho Code 31-808 sets out a procedure after an attempted auction, so parcels that draw no acceptable bid stay in county hands and can be offered again. Availability and method are set by each board of county commissioners rather than statewide, so check the county before assuming a list exists.

This route skips the live auction, which means these are the parcels nobody bid on, so the due diligence matters even more. Every state names this inventory differently, and the state-held and struck-off land table maps each local name to the same mechanism. The over-the-counter guide has the cross-state playbook.
