Registration and deposit
No online pre-registration. Investors submit a completed Bidder Information Sheet to the Treasurer's Office the morning of the sale and are assigned a bidder number. Winning bidders pay the full amount of taxes, interest and fees by cash, cashier's check or money order by 3:00 p.m. on the day of the sale.
Bid-down-interest lien sale conducted in person by the Treasurer, not on any online platform. Parcels unsold at the sale are struck to the state as State Certificates of Purchase and become available by assignment beginning April 1 at the Treasurer's Office, in person or by mail; the $75 list of available liens is ready April 1. Third-party auction sites such as Bid4Assets post courtesy notices for this sale but do not run it. In-person live auction with open competitive oral bidding on the lowest interest rate (bid-down interest). Held at the La Paz County Board of Supervisors Boardroom, 1108 Joshua Avenue, Parker. Bidders must be present; there is no online bidding platform, and bids by telephone or mail are not accepted.
From lien to deed
Arizona holds no county tax deed auction. A certificate holder who is not redeemed can foreclose the right to redeem in court, starting three years after the sale, to obtain a treasurer's deed.
Over-the-counter (leftover) purchases
Liens that receive no bid are struck to the state. Any person may later buy a state-held certificate over the counter by assignment from the county treasurer, paying the amount due plus subsequent taxes and a small assignment fee. Assigned state certificates earn the full 16 percent.

- Redemption
- The owner or any interested party can redeem the lien at any time until the right to redeem is foreclosed by the court. A certificate of purchase holder cannot begin a foreclosure action until three years after the sale, and the lien becomes void if no foreclosure is commenced within ten years after the month the certificate was acquired.
A tax deed does not convey marketable title. Most buyers file a quiet title action before they can resell or insure the property. See the due diligence guide.
